We discovered this barn on that trip from Dayton, Ohio on Rt. 40.
It was off the road and down a hill,
but I was still able to get some good shots
from where we were able to park.
My husband got a kick out of the advertisement for Mail Pouch
being on top of one for Red Man tobacco.
Both ads are old,
but the Mail Pouch one is still in good shape.
Off to the side of this barn were these barns (one is most likely a shed).
My zoom captured a glimpse of them.
Nature is taking over these buildings
and reaching them would be a tough hike in unknown territory.
I passed on that challenge.

What a great find! I love seeing those old signs painted on barns, but it's rare around here!
ReplyDeleteGreat pics! I've only seen one or two barns with the advertising on them. They're treasures. Visiting from Barn Charm!
ReplyDeletei love this one!
ReplyDeleteI grew up seeing these all the time. They make me smile every time. I took a pic of one last week and forgot until I saw yours.
ReplyDeleteLove this one! The barn looks to be in pretty good shape considering the ad is so faded. I love the red paint at the bottom. I'm guessing Mail Pouch paid the farmer more than Redman. :)
I don't blame you for passing on that mess, but WoW! what a find w/ the Mailpouch/Red Man barn... that IS funny how they'd paint over the Red Man when it's still so clearly visible! There used to be some ad barns north of here, but they're looong gone, now
ReplyDeleteThank you very much for joining, much appreciated! =)
I would never try to 'hike' to that shed (or whatever it is)... The wildlife have probably taken over that area.... Yipes!!!!!
ReplyDeleteGreat barn picture for Barn Charm.
Hugs,
Betsy
Much as I dislike tobacco, I love vintage ads on barns! Cool find!
ReplyDeleteI love the barns with advertising...this one is in good shape.
ReplyDeleteQuite a find! Prompts memories of my dad spitting tobacco juice at my bare feet in the summer! Happy Barn Charm!
ReplyDeleteThat is a rare find. To find a barn down the hill is awesome. Love it! Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteBarn Charm
I wonder if the Mailpouch ad guy ever came to check out his sign? You'd think he wouldn't be too happy about the Red Man underneath and still so visible!
ReplyDeleteI have heard of Mailpouch but not Red Man.
This one is really unique Beth. I always feel somehow sad to see them deteriorating. I always wonder about the families who knew them when they were brand new.
ReplyDeleteLove these pictures Beth.
You have some unique barns in your area. Thanks for sharing them with us.
ReplyDeletei like this one, beth. something about the graphics and the colours with that aged look. it's also good to see that the roof looks in good shape.
ReplyDeleteI have a mail pouch shot also on a barn! Wow that last shot was a lucky find...good eye!
ReplyDeleteI find it humorous when I see an "old" ad when I'm out on a side highway. Some were so well presented. One reason... people didn't have to drive so fast, so the reading could well be done. For instance, Burma-Shave. Some of those are/were such a hoot, and so true. Now we live in such a different world.
ReplyDeleteThese are great finds. It's nice to meet you through Barn Charm. Happy New Year.
ReplyDeleteNow this is a picture of the past. I remember when the old barns all had signs like this on them. What great captures. I would love to have seen this one myself. genie
