Beauty

"Youth is happy because it has the ability to see beauty.  Anyone who keeps the ability to see beauty never grows old."
                                                           Franz Kafka

These are photos of my friend's flowers.  They're actually last year's.  She's been busy lately working to get her place once again "blooming" color.  She left this week for a cruise that will take her to Alaska.  She's the one who wasn't supposed to make it to adulthood and who turned 60 this past spring.  She has rheumatoid arthritis that has invaded her intestines.  Lot of days she limps.  But she sees beauty everywhere and she does her part to add to the beauty around her.  But then just being in her presence brings "beauty" into a person's life.

I have no idea what this flower is called.  I do remember how thrilled she was with it.
 S. Etole, do you know?
Now, back to my writing for my renewal courses, so Ohio will allow me to teach another year.

  1. That is one of my favorite quotes! I used to have a poster of it in my classroom--until the tornado took it. I'm going to have to make a new one! : ) Beautiful flowers! (Yes, get your paperwork done!)

  3. It may be a very large poppy judging from the seed head beginning to form. They come in such a variety of colors. It's good to know the secret of not growing old! Her flowers are beautiful.

  5. Lovely post. Wise words. Your friend sounds like one who has been tempered in the fire and has come out shining. Thanks for your encouraging comment on my post. You're right, sometimes a good cry works wonders. And thanks for adding me to your blog list! I am honored. Hoping today is a day of beauty and blessing for you.
