Prayer, Protection, Peace, and Scripture of the Week

This was taken when my daughter came up for a week with her two little ones.
I was babysitting my son's three kids and we met in the park for a picnic.

Colton wasn't able to be with us at the picnic, but here is a photo of him turning 12.

Praying especially for protection for my grandchildren.
They have been on my mind and when I needed peace tonight,
I ended up with the following scripture.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High
 shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress:
my God; in Him will I trust.
Surely He shall delver thee from the snare of the fowler,
 and from the noisome pestilence.
He shall cover thee with his feathers,
and under his wings shalt shou trust:
 his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night;
nor for the arrow that flieth by day.
Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness;
nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday. . .
Because thou hast made the Lord, which is my refuge,
even the most High, thy habitation;
There shall no evil befall thee,
neither shall any plague come nigh they dwelling.
For He shall give his angels charge over thee,
to keep thee in all thy ways.
They shall bear thee up in their hands,
lest thou dash thy foot against a stone. . .

Because he hath set his love upon me,
therefore will I deliver him;

. . . He shall call upon me,
and I will answer him:
I will be with him in trouble,
I will deliver him,
and honour him.
With long life will I satisfy him,
and shew him my salvation.
Psalm 91: 1-6, 9-12, 14-16

As one sleeps on my couch tonight
and the others are safe in their beds,
I will now go to sleep.

  1. That is one of my favorite Psalms. When Andy left for the army, he wrote us a letter, and he included this Psalm. What a comfort to know God is watching over our loved ones, and nothing happens outside of His plan.
    It's also a blessing that your grandkids have a praying grandma!

  2. i like to pray the psalms, too...

  3. What a joy to have some of the grandkids together... Looks like a beautiful group!!!!

    Good Luck getting back to work... The first few weeks are tedious....

    Hugs and Prayers,

  4. I get buried in so many different portions of the Word, but the Psalms speak so directly to the hearts and souls as we deal with real life. Good choice, Grandma. [And praying the Word instead of just rambling our mouths can be so accurate. Need to do it regularly, instead of just when I'm too frustrated to think straightforwardly about how our dear Father sees things.]

  5. It's always a gift to read the Psalms you post here. Enjoy your little ones while they visit.

  6. I do love the Psalms Beth! I hope you had a lovely time with your precious ones.

  7. thanks you for your kind words! i like this prayer, also for me it is a bit easier to read those prayers in dutch!!
    have a nice day!

  8. oh friend... i love your heart, and your comments. you care so deeply. i'm praying for you and your students. love e.

  9. children
