Beauty found in my drive to and from school

"Never lose an opportunity of seeing
anything that is beautiful;
for beauty is God's handwriting --
a wayside sacrament.
Welcome it in every fair face,
in every fair sky, in every fair flower,
and thank God for it as
a cup of blessing."
Ralph Waldo Emerson

There are several sections of Seneca Lake
that have been isolated by roads and bridges
built to grant access to beautiful land that would otherwise
only be reached by boat.

Seneca Lake is a man-made lake
that despite good planning
left parts of original farms inaccessible.

So now with the bridges, there are areas of the lake
that big boats can't reach.
However, I doubt that the folks living in those areas mind.

Below is an area I pass every day to and from work.
I enjoy observing the seasonal changes of this particular spot
with its abundance of lily pads.

I zoomed in for the next shot.
I apologize for the haziness of parts of these photos;
I'm still learning with this camera.

"The question is not what man can scorn,
or disparage,
or find fault with,
but what he can love,
and value,
and appreciate."
John Ruskin

  4. I know that there are other ways of looking at things, but, i have a hard time going there if i am not paying attention to the Spirit's speaking to me, if my heart is not listening. In this way, my heart can become hardened to Him.

    Too often i forget. And in this, i am not allowing God to speak to me or to others through me. But, just the opposite, in fact. It leaves my shield down and helmet off. It leaves me vulnerable to the influence of evil.

    I forget that to remain in God requires a continual relationship in Jesus. And that seems to be the battle...just to remember... that in all i am relating with Jesus.

  5. Thank you for being our eyes Beth. The one thing I miss about living up north - the fall colors. These pictures bring the beauty of autumn right into my home. Lovely!
