after 40 years
of driving
in the foothills
of
the Appalachian Mountains,
on
winding
two-lane
country roads
with treacherous curves,
and
an abundance
of
deer
roaming nearby
I'd learn
that
trying
too hard
to
get some place
sometimes
gets me
NOWHERE.
"I operate in self-control and don't allow my spirit to be unruly.
I refuse to be like a city that is broken down and without walls.
Self-control and discipline add protection to my life."
Proverbs 25:28
I do believe I need to confess this aloud until it's deep within me and I truly live it.

Yikes... that had to hurt! I think this is a good lesson for all of us. Thanks for sharing this story and for the great verse.
ReplyDeletePoor baby! Hope you're OK and will continue to be so...
ReplyDeleteBlessings...
It happened last fall shortly before Thanksgiving. This one did hurt--the air bag went off making me rather sore.
ReplyDeleteThe one the week before didn't hurt me or the grandkids and only did minor damage to the "other" car. Yep--two cars and two deer in one week. I drive much more carefully at dawn, dusk, and night, and yes I need to leave earlier for school and thus drive slower then too. Working on that. If I have a "vice"--it's speed and that's a big area for self-control work for me.
I usually avoid driving during dusk, etc., b/c my eyes simply don't see well. When I've been at Susie's and occasionally driving back after dark -- about 500 miles down [mostly] Interstate. I pop in behind semi's so their lights will cover more territory and I'll be able to see what's going on. No curves, turns, etc., on I-29, so don't have to deal with that issue. Glad you came out OK. Bless your dear head [and heart].
