Granddaughter's responsibility

On her Daddy and Mommy's boat, standing steady, she bends her knees, tilts her head and watches
as the cup tips and the ashes spill.  Solemnly---she understands the importance of this moment.  She never met her (Great-)Grandma Shirley, but she remembers her (Great-)Grandpa Roy vividly and she still sheds tears for him.
Her Grandma Beth holds back her little brother.  He has had his turn as has little sis.  The last cup is Peyton's responsibility.  We say good-bye and then we pray.

  6. Beth, this is so moving in its simple grace. One of the best things you've done. So much beneath these few words and this one photo. Your mom and dad must be smiling over this tribute, this family love.

  7. Such a poignant moment you have captured and shared with us. The slight movement in her hand [or perhaps it is reflection] is story in itself.
