Scruffy helping decorate and the Monday Prayer

Scruffy thought she would 'help' me decorate.

Then she thought she'd just claim some of my decorations for herself.
But after awhile, this decorating business became too taxing for her
and she fell asleep on the job.

Later that night as I was almost done decorating the tree,
I wondered where Scruffy was.
Then the mound of tissue paper on the couch moved.
Aha!
I found her!
Sleeping on the job again.

Tomorrow begins another week.
Here's the Monday Prayer:

Lord,
I open my heart to receive Your perfect love into my mind, emotions, soul, and spirit.
Help me to understand the depths of Your love at all times.
Jesus, I know You are the Son of God,
and because I have received You into my Heart,
You live in me and Your love dwells in me.
Help me to live in Your love and not doubt it.
Help me to grow more and more secure in Your love
so that I can grow and thrive the way a child does with a loving parent.

Amen.

Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God,
God abides in him, and he in God.
And we have known and believed the love that God has for us.
God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God,
and God in him.
I John 4:15-16

From one of Stormie Omartian's books of prayers

Blessings to you as you begin a new week!

  1. Your kitty is adorable Beth. I remember the year, when I was a little girl, that our German Shepherd (Shep!) knocked over the newly decorated tree. He just got all excited and wagged his tail a bit too enthusiastically. Oh, how I loved that dog.
A beautiful prayer - may your week be filled with His grace and blessing.

  4. What a cute kitty-cat! Mine never cared about the Christmas tree so there was never a worry that she'd climb it or play with its ornaments.

Thanks for the Monday prayer and week-starter. Have a blessed week, Beth.

  5. All the ornaments towards the bottom of the tree are unbreakable. Neither cat has tried to climb the tree, although I had one that did long ago.
My husband has the tree wired securely to the wide, heavy walnut trim around a near-by window, just in case their claws snag a lower branch and they yank free, which would pull the tree down. He thinks of everthing!:)

  7. P.S. Have you ever read "A Pussycat's Christmas," by Margaret Wise Brown, illustrated by Anne Mortimer? A GREAT Christmas storybook. The cat in the book reminds me so much of your Scruffy, even though it's a black and white kitty.

P.P.S. I like the way you're changing up the header photos, and this one of the cows is really nice. Your midwestern winter scenes always make me homesick...
