God has something new and the Monday Prayer

Seneca Lake in southeastern Ohio taken out car window when snowing

In The Power of Praying: Help for a Woman's Journey Through Life, Stormie Omartian
writes the following in the section "knowing the extent of His grace:"

"GOD IS ALWAYS WANTING TO TAKE YOU TO A NEW PLACE IN YOUR LIFE, (her caps, not mine)
and you will keep Him from doing that if you are hanging on to the way
things have always been done.
He will never allow you to rest on past success.
If you rely on the way things have always been done,
you aren't relying on Him.
And that's the whole point.

No matter how old you are, God has something new
He wants to do in your life.
Ask Him to show you what that is.
Tell Him you  intend to stay in the race
and you don't want to carry any baggage
from the past around with you."

I don't know, but I think I needed to 'hear' that.
I need to change how I do some things at school; I'm just not sure what or how.

So here's Stormie's accompanying prayer---it will the Monday Prayer for this week:

"Lord, help me to keep my eyes looking straight ahead
and not back on the former days and old ways of doing things.
I know You want to do something new in my life today.
Help me to concentrate on where I am to go now
and
not where I have been.
Thank You for releasing me from the past so that by Your grace
I can move out of it
and into the future You have for me.
In Jesus' name I pray.
Amen."

GOD'S PROMISE
 If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away;
behold all things have become new.
II Corinthians 5:17

I have a professional day tomorrow, so I will be sitting most of the day in an auditorium.
Tuesday the students will be back.

Blessings to you all as you begin your week!

  1. I like that thought - God has something new, no matter how old you are. I tend to forget that!

  3. God has something new
no matter how old you are...
    yep...that's for sure. ha!

hey, i know i'm old, because i remember in first grade, that the girls were not allowed to wear pants. in the dead of winter, in illinois they allowed us to wear them to school, under our dresses, BUT, we had to go in the back of the class and take them off with our coats once we were inside.

it was stupid rules like that...it made me crazy even in first grade.

when i was a freshman in high school, girls were not allowed to wear jeans, and skirts had to touch the floor when kneeling on the floor.
the boys had to have their shirts tucked-in with a belt.

by the time we were seniors, girls wore jeans and shirts were untucked.
and the skirts were all kinds of lengths.

yeah, and i remember the paddle that the principle had in my grade school. a big old wooden flat thing with holes drilled into it. i knew some boys that got whacked for almost nothing. my mom used a green switch or a yard stick...i think i only got the yard stick once, mainly on my hand as i kept getting it in the way. it was my older sister that got it more than me, she was a bit feisty. she had a mouth sometimes too...soap to wash the words out. i think i learned from her mistakes and kept my mouth shut.

    man....i am getting old!

i like the s now photo, because of the fence going up the hill. it looks cool in the snow. that must be a chore to put a fence up a hill like that.

well, have a good as you can day tomorrow, make sure to get up and stretch out when you can.

  6. Amazing grace! Letting go and letting Him work in me is what He desires. Thank you for bringing His word to-day. May I stand on His word and be pleasing to Him.
Every blessing for the days ahead.

  8. I can remember all that too, Nance. We got to wear jeans our senior year, but my folks would only let me wear pastel colored ones to school, not the denim ones. I got to wear them on Senior Day and I was thrilled--that was freedom to me then!
