Barn Charm # 81

In July a close friend and I went 'barn hunting'.

She had several great barns she wanted to show me.

First though, we stopped at Caldwell Fair Grounds 

to take photos of the old church, school, and covered bridge.

(I will feature them another time.)

We ended up at the swine barn

and although it's not an old barn,

I thought it was interesting.

Next week is Noble County Fair.

(We don't start school until September 2nd

because of the fair.)

Barn Charm # 80

The following are barns I found while out driving.

This one is out by itself with no home or other buildings around it.

It looks more like a storage shed, but I still thought 

the weathered wood.looked nice.

I took a side lane off of the road west of town 

that I usually follow.

I only found one barn/farm setting---

a small set up.

I did not take a close-up because there was a home in the midst 

of the outbuildings and people were there.

I did get a nice surprise, though.

The road intersected with the state highway 

I drive to work.

I always wondered where that side road led

and if there were any barns out there.

Some day if I've got time

and am a bit bored with the usual way,

I'll take this way.

The biggest surprise was coming on this barn

that I pass to and from work

and can never figure out how to photograph it.

I thought the side road across from it

might be a good spot to pull over and snap some,

but I never did until last Friday when I found myself on that road.

At first I didn't recognize the barn or where I was.

Now I'm determined to go back and get more pics.

It is a wonderful barn that is well taken care of

and used daily.

Hopefully I can feature it again after taking more pics.

Barn Charm # 79

I'm featuring the Ohio State Barn west of my small town

in full summer dress.

This is my favorite barn around here.

Barn Charm # 78

Different angles of the same barn.

I've shown this once before,

but it was not summer

and I didn't 'shoot' all the angles well.

I took a side road off the main drag out west of town.

I decided to follow it indefinitely

and found myself weaving back to the main road.

Barn Charm # 77

I have been taking photos of several barns out west of town
and showing the seasonal changes through them.
The smaller photos of each barn is from April of last year
before that terrible storm in June that wreaked havoc throughout
the US and other places.
The larger ones were taken this past Saturday.
As you can see, the differences in the seasons are obvious.
So is the storm damage.

This is the Ohio State barn, but I wasn't able to get a photo of the other side--the side that has
the Buckeye painted on it.  The smaller one is an April shot with the larger one being a June one.

As for the other two barns,

seeing them was difficult.

You really would have had to strain your eyes and use your imagination 

looking at a photo

to see the one through the leaves.

The other one was invisible to me,

although I knew it was there behind all that foliage.

Barn Charm #76

As I sit at my computer in the corner of my living room,

I can look out the French doors and see this setting.

It is on a hill behind an auto body shop--both are 

across the alley from me.

The fence in the background is around a garden.

There is a wide strip of field that runs three large lots long

surrounded by a cemetery, homes, and businesses.

If I want to walk to it, I go between two of the three buildings

of my neighbor's auto body shop.

Here's a narrow view of the barn.

This is a field directly beside the barn.

It belongs to another shed and home off to the right.

There are two ponies and a donkey there.

It's startling when I am reading to the pounding and whirring

sounds of the auto body shop,

and I suddenly hear a donkey bray!

That's life in my small town!

The next photos were taken this past winter

from the cemetery above the barn.

These show the other side of the barn.

As you can see, the barn and shed are in a big back yard 

in a neighborhood of closely set houses and businesses.

That's my small town for you!

Barn Charm # 75

This week I am featuring 

two barns

that I pass on my way to and from school.

This is on my way to school.

This is coming back from school,

headed home.

I come down a steep hill and through a sharp  curve

to find this set up on the hill.

I have not been able to get one showing the rest of the buildings

that loom up to the right.

Coming down that hill is too dangerous to take a picture.

This is instead on my way home

before I go into the curve and up the hill.

There is a huge, lovely farm house with it,

but it's on the sharp curve,

so alas, no photos of it.

I like this smaller building that is connected to the big barn.

They raise horses or at least did at one time.

Barn Charm #74

You can barely see the barn hidden in the overgrowth of trees.

My husband spotted it first.

As we continued up the winding country road,

more of the structure emerged.

The set up is like nothing I have ever seen

and though I tried, I don't think I did it 'justice'.

There is a wall made of railroad ties between the side of it and the road.

Then there is a stone wall between it and another barn and the actual house.

I did not get a photo of the house.

Here I have stuck my head out of my SUV's sun roof to get a last shot.

This was part of the property also,

although it was on the other side of the road.

I hope to go back some day and take more and better photos.
