Corner View: Passion

Passion

When I think of the word passion,
I think of the passion of love
and that leads me to the heart.

I have a collection of heart-themed items.
I spread some of them out for a photo for this post.
I had a difficult time with the light on the lighter-patterned ones,
so I'm featuring them separately.

Here are the lighter-patterned heart-shaped 'containers'.
I use all  (here and above)
to store jewelry.

I place them in various arrangements on two dressers
and a jewelry dresser in my bedroom.

This is my favorite 'container'.
I saw it at a arts and crafts fair in Cincinnati.
It is a combination of metal, stained glass,
and blown glass.
My daughter-in-law was with me
and she doubled back and bought it
for me for a Christmas present.

I keep my bigger silver and mixed metals earrings in it.

These are some of my heart-themed pins.
I have a huge collection of pins---they're are my signature jewelry.
I've been called the "Pin Lady" at school.

Here are my favorite items.
The angel I bought for my mom for the Valentine's Day that was her last.
She had been given two months to live after the leukemia diagnosis.
She died shortly after V'Day.
Dad kept this angel on her red Bible beside the reddish leather-like box
that contained her ashes--all on his night stand.
They are mine now.

The funky red heart pin was made by an artist friend.  She does mixed media.

The star with the heart in the middle was a Christmas present from my husband.
I had seen it in a Coldwater Creek clothing catalogue and showed it to him.
I was thrilled he actually bought it for me.

The gold heart pin is part of a collection of gold pins given to my
by my Grandma Jarvis (my mom's mother)
when I was a little girl.
I have all of them still except for the gold B for my name.
(I still have the A for my middle name Anne).
There were 8 in the collection, but this is the only heart one.

Here's a bit more detail of the angel.
Mom kept the angel perched near
her bed.  I told her the angel was
to watch over her.
She even had hearts on her dress!

I'm not sure from where or whom this came,
but I use it to protect my pearl jewelry.

This one was a Christmas present from a close friend who likes to make artsy presents.
Even though it has a Christmas theme, I keep it out year round.

This is a Longaberger basket--famously made here in Ohio. I  like the way it is set up inside.

I like the clear lift-out tray.  The earrings are all my mother's or given to me by my mother.
My childhood charm bracelet and a special bracelet made from sterling silver spoons
are kept here also.
All of the next ones have either been bought by me or given to me.

This is the only one that is not pink, blue, or red.  It has an Oriental flare to it.

Here are a few more pins.  This
one I wear only around Valentine's
Day.  It is from the Boyd's Bear
collection.

This angel has a purple amethyst heart.  Amethyst is my birthstone.
It is also a combination of gold and silver and that gives it more versatility.

I'm featuring this pin because it is part of a collection called "The 1920's Collection."
All of the jewelry in this collection look vintage.
I have pins, necklaces, and earrings --all different, but all vintage looking.

This is part of a set of five bracelets--all with hearts somewhere on them.

This heart on a ribbon was used to wrap a gift given to me.
This glass container is my only true red heart of the collection.

Once more, a photo glimpse of them from a different angle.

To end this post on passion,
I have included a song that is a favorite from a favorite movie.
I believe that when you truly love someone, you put them first.

you will have to click on the
"Watch on You Tube" phrase to actually see the video.

Bryan Adams - (Everything I Do) I Do It For You
From movie Robin Hood
Below are the lyrics.

Bryan Adams Lyrics > Everything I Do I Do It for You Lyrics

Look into my eyes - you will see
What you mean to me
Search your heart - search your soul
And when you find me there you'll search no more
Don't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
You can't tell me it's not worth dyin' for
You know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

Look into your heart - you will find
There's nothin' there to hide
Take me as I am - take my life
I would give it all I would sacrifice
Don't tell me it's not worth fightin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you
There's no love - like your love
And no other - could give more love
There's nowhere unless you're there
All the time - all the way

Oh you can't tell me it's not worth tryin' for
I can't help it there's nothin' I want more
I would fight for you - I'd lie for you
Walk the wire for you - Ya I'd die for you
Ya know it's true
Everything I do - I do it for you

  3. my! you are a passionate woman where the heart is concerned.... beth... pin lady? never. heart lady more like. it makes you human and loving, i'm sure...

well, to come back on my post and the body in red circle sign... by now you probably know i have a quirky streak. (if i was one of your pupils, i'd rebel, let's say... ;)).

i put it in, because i wanted to illustrate the fact i want to refrain from obvious deviators such as, well, w3, internet & such. and yes, i actually say that in the paragraph too... as opposed to passion.

thus. ecclectic. you got it in one... sorry to show you sushi&mushrooms... (i am crazy about them...)

  4. I like them all. The heart is of course the one and only place where true passion is inspired, and to have it in tangible shape in so many varieties, is very strengthening.

I love your jewelry, by the way. (Funny thing is, I am not particularly fond of wearing jewelry, but sometimes I do, because Top1 designs them.)

I can sense you've really found time to rest this holiday. Hope you'll ease into the start of the new semester or trimester or whatever it is called at your school. (We have till the end of August before school and other Important Stuff infiltrate our lifes yet again).

  13. Neat song, Beth... And I love your passion for hearts... Such a great collection. I have so many passions that it's hard to pick just one or two.. Backyard birds are a passion; so is traveling; so are pretty flowers; so are sunsets and sunrises, etc. etc. etc... In order to have passion, one must have a zeal for life and love.

    Hugs,
    Betsy
