Insanity

A former insane asylum that is no longer in use,
even though some open doors and  office stuff in windows,
tell a different story.
It has housed several county agencies since its asylum days.
Due to asbestos, it is too costly to tear it down.
Perhaps that is best.
It stands as a grim reminder of how we (society) mistreated those who needed us most.

  1. It was a sad chapter of our history. This is a neat old building - hopefully someday it can be renovated.

  2. This would have been a good one for next week's corner view, Impressions. It's a good example of how wrong first impressions can be as the facade is so lovely, but such ugly things went on inside of it.

  3. I just showed these photos to Emily and she thought they were really cool (from a writer's standpoint.) She wants to explore this place and put it in a book ;)

  4. Great photos, Beth. I especially like the third and fourth ones. They all have an ominous feel about them.

  5. Wow, so sad...and asbestos now surrounding people in offices...truly insanity!

  6. We have a similar building in our locality. A block with a tower still stands in the middle of a new housing estate and I find it a chilling reminder of what went on there especially having heard stories from members of my family history course. You've captured the atmosphere in your photos, Beth.

  7. So many heavy sighs connected to our cultural background and the materialistic portions they simply didn't know back then.

    Good thinking, good photos.
